Here you will find common questions customers will ask regarding our machine rentals and supplies. If you don’t find the question you are looking for, you can always feel free to contact us!

  • 1. Why Rent from HTK Hawaii?

    This has got to be a big question in most people’s heads, why rent from HTK when there are so much other rental companies out there?
    Here are some reasons that I hope would persuade you to rent from us!

    • We offer the best prices and the longest rental times. For $55.00 you could rent the machine from Friday to Monday!
    • No cleaning required. All of our staff cleans your dirty popcorn/cotton candy machine for you.
    • New and updated machines. Because we sell the machines, we are always rotating our inventory with fresh new machines rather than dirty and rusted 10 year old machines. Our machines would look professional and clean for your event.
    • Our machines work 99% of the time. Each machine is cleaned and checked by our mechanic prior to being rented out again. Because the machines are newer and well maintained, we rarely have break downs during operation.
    • We are a one stop shop that you can purchase all your supplies along with your machine rental.
    • Over 25 years in the industry. We have been in business for over 25 years selling shave ice products around the islands and the mainland. We have a great reputation that you can trust and depend on!
    • Customer service is our priority! Our friendly sales staff could answer any question you may have regarding your rental. They can even give you business ideas if you want to set up shop! Having a bad day? Want to talk about local news?  Not a problem, feel free to talk story with us, we don’t get paid on commission and we want to harbor a joyful environment.
    • We are flexible! We are not uptight about late rentals (unless you don’t notify us). You wouldn’t have to panic if you are a bit late.
  • 2. Cancellation
    In the event that you need to cancel a rental, please give us a call a day in advance to notify us of your cancellation. There will be no hard feelings and we would be thankful that you notified us so another customer may use the rental.
  • 3. Do you offer on site catering?
    Unfortunately we do not have enough staff to be able to cater on site, however we have several customers that could do on site events. Give us a call and we would be happy to refer you to one of our customers that can operate the machines for you.
  • 4. Do you guys rent bouncers/tents/generators etc.?
    Unfortunately we do not carry party items. For great party rentals please visit
  • 5. I didn’t use my machine, can I get a refund?
    We offer rental credit or full refunds for machines that were not used during the rental period. This could be due to event cancellation or bad weather which we understand. As long as the machine is in clean shape, we would be happy to refund you the rental fee or reserve you another date free of charge.
  • 6. What if my machine doesn’t work during our event?

    If your machine stops working during your function, first thing to do is to call us! We are open on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.

    All of our machines are cleaned and tested prior to being rented, in most cases we can solve the issue over the phone. However if the machine is not repairable over the phone, we would either swap the machine (if we are open at the time) or provide you with a refund or rental credit upon the machines return.

  • 7. Do you sell the machines you rent?
    Yes we do! Our main focus is providing shave ice products for both commercial and residential applications. We do occasionally sell our rental machines to rotate our inventory. We also carry brand new machines for purchasing if you wish to purchase the same model that you rented.
  • 8. This is my first time renting, how do I use the machine?
    Our friendly sales staff would be more than happy to teach you on how to operate your rental. Just ask us if you are unsure.
  • 9. Are there non profit discounts for machine rentals?

  • 10. Do you guys deliver?

    Yes we do deliver, however there is a delivery charge of $35.00 for drop off and pick up.

    We only deliver in town.

  • 11. Where can I purchase the supplies?
    You may purchase all popcorn, shave ice, and cotton candy supplies from our store when you pick up the machine. We carry all the items you would need to make your shave ice, popcorn, or cotton candy part a success!
  • 12. What if I can’t return on time?

    At HTK, we fully understand that there may be unforeseeable issues that may cause a late return of a machine. In that scenario, we would appreciate if you could give our office a call stating your reason for not being able to return by the specified time. We would usually waive the penalty fee and allow you to return the next day.

    If we are not informed of the late return, you would be charged our daily rate each day the machine is late which is $55.00/day.

  • 13. Are deposits required?
    No deposits are required when making a reservation. You may pay for the rental upon pick up of the machine.
  • 14. Is cleaning required?
    You are not required to clean your machines, our trained staff would be responsible for it upon the machines return.
  • 15. What are pick up and drop off times?

    For weekend rentals, you pick up the machine before 4:00 pm on Friday and return before 4:00 pm on Monday. For weekday rentals, you pick up the day before and return the day after.


    Wednesday rental

    Pick up Tuesday before 4:00 pm, return Thursday before 4:00 pm

  • 16. How do I make a reservation?

    Reservations are made through the phone. For regular non holiday weekend reservations, you could book your machine 1 week in advance. For machine reservations that fall on major holidays (labor day), you would be required to book up to a month in advance.

  • 17. How much does the rental cost?

    Popcorn, shave ice, cotton candy are all $55.00 for the weekend. We offer special weekend rentals that no other store offers where you pick up the machine on Friday and return on Monday all for the price of $55.00! That is a 3 day rental for the price of one.
